DPR Urges Police To Continue Polemic Of Muhammad's Name As Promotional Material For Holywings Alcohol Drinks To Legal Process
JAKARTA - Promotion of free alcoholic beverage products for consumers with the name Muhammad at Holywings Indonesia has resulted in a polemic. Member of the DPR from the PKB faction, Luqman Hakim, urged the police to continue the polemic in the legal process.
Luqman said the police could immediately respond to the polemic. It is known that until now no reports have been received by the police regarding the promotion of Holywings.
"The police can immediately carry out legal proceedings against the case of using the names Muhammad and Maria by Holywings for the promotion of liquor," said the member of Commission VIII of the DPR through his Twitter account, @LuqmanBeeNKRI, Friday, June 24.
Previously, Holywings Indonesia gave promos to people named Muhammad and Maria. Both names can get free alcohol when visiting Holywings outlets.
The promotion, which was uploaded on Instagram @holywingsindonesia, has drawn major controversy on social media. Soon the name Muhammad listed was changed to Mario, while Maria's name did not change.
Holywings Indonesia then apologized for the promotion of alcoholic beverage products involving the names of Muhammad and Maria.
"Regarding the virality of our upload (Holywings Indonesia) regarding promotions using the names Muhammad & Maria. We have followed up the promotion team who made the promotion without the knowledge of Hollywings Indonesia management, with very severe sanctions," wrote Holywings via his Instagram account.
