PT PPA's Meeting With Merpati Airlines Ended In A Riot, How Come?
JAKARTA - The Advocacy Team for the Former Pilots Association of PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Persero) and the Management of PT Perusahaan Pengelola Asset (Persero) or PPA had an argument.
This incident occurred before PPA and former Merpati employees held a closed meeting at the Mandiri Tower Building, this afternoon.
The incident began when PPA management did not allow the Merpati Pilot Association Advocacy Team to attend the meeting.
The attitude of the PPA management provoked the emotions of David Sitorus, one of the Advocacy Team who was present.
David said that as a lawyer for a former Merpati employee, he had the right to attend the meeting.
David assessed that the PPA's refusal indicated that there was a violation of the payment of the rights of the former employee of this state-owned airline.
"If this is the case, like this is what happened, it means that we suspect that PPA or other parties are trying to thwart our efforts to fulfill the rights of these employees. We are legitimate to attend, we are legal counsel for our clients, why should it be difficult," said David told reporters, Thursday, June 23.
For your information, PPA management has indeed given official meeting invitations to all representatives of the former Merpati employee agency.
This invitation is also closed and is not intended for the presence of the Advocacy Team for the Former Merpati Nusantara Pilots Association.
However, David felt entitled to take part in the meeting.
The reason is, he and his colleagues are legal counsel who are obliged to assist clients in fighting for their rights.
"From the invitations that I distributed, all representatives from employee institutions were invited. This employee protection is not just VAT, there is Pilot VAT, Employee VAT, right," he explained.
According to David, a meeting between PPA management and former Merpati employees regarding the clarity of ex-employees' rights after Merpati was declared bankrupt by the Surabaya District Court some time ago.
"PT PPA invites all representatives of ex-Merpati ex-employees to attend to discuss the fulfillment of the rights of ex-Merpati employees," he said.
