COVID-19 Cases In Bali Rise After Dozens Of Foreigners Are Detected Positively
DENPASAR - Dozens of foreign nationals (WNA) have contributed to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Bali in the past three days.
From the records of the Bali COVID-19 Task Force, since Tuesday, June 21, there have been 65 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a day. Of these, 17 are foreigners and the remaining 48 are Indonesian citizens (WNI).
Furthermore, on Wednesday, June 22, of the 51 cases, 21 of them were foreigners and the rest were Indonesian citizens. Then on Thursday, June 23, there were 56 cases with 18 foreigners exposed and the rest Indonesian citizens.
"Today, 18 foreigners have tested positive for Covid-19," said Head of the Bali Provincial Health Office, I Nyoman Gede Anom.
One of the reasons why foreigners are confirmed to be COVID-19 is because they still carry the custom from their country, namely not wearing masks.
"There are some foreigners living in Bali (positive for COVID-19), there are also those who live in Canggu, in Kerobokan. They are free there (don't want to wear masks). In fact, our people who are disciplined wear masks. used to be free of masks from the past (in his country)," he said.
Anom said that foreigners were the biggest contributor to COVID-19 cases in Bali since he took office as Head of the Bali Health Service in April 2022.
"From the beginning of my tenure, there have been positive foreigner cases, in fact the number is often more than Indonesian citizens," he said.
To prevent the spread of cases from spreading, his party asked the public to continue to comply with the rules set by the government, namely for the elderly group, kormobid, and people with colds and fevers to continue to wear masks, both inside and outside the room.
