Man Drifting In Opak River In Bantul Found Dead 700 M From Suicide Site

BANTUL - Suryanto (30), a victim who was reported to have drifted in the Opak Imogiri River, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) on Tuesday afternoon, June 21, was found dead by the Joint Search and Rescue Team (SAR) on Wednesday afternoon, June 22. .

"The search for victims who were swept away in the Opak Imogiri River in Bantul has yielded results, the victim on behalf of Suryanto (30) was found by the Joint SAR Team," said Head of the Yogyakarta National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Office, Kamal Riswandi in a press statement, Wednesday, June 22.

According to him, the Joint SAR Team, which on the second day of the search operation was divided into three SRUs (search and rescue) were able to find victims under a suspension bridge in the Sungapan Hamlet, Sriharjo Village, Imogiri, Bantul.

The victim was found by the SRU who did a body rafting search at 11.55 WIB at the location wanting to commit suicide in a condition of death.

"The victim's distance was found from the scene of approximately 700 meters. The victim was found floating and stuck near the Sungapan bridge, after that the victim was taken by the SRU in a rubber boat to a place with easy access to evacuation," he said.

The victims were then evacuated by the Joint SAR Team to a rubber boat and taken to an ambulance waiting for the Bantul Police Inafis team to be identified.

"With the discovery of the victim drifting in the Opak Imogiri River, Bantul on behalf of Suryanto, the SAR operation is declared closed and all elements of the Joint SAR Team are returned to their respective units," he said.

The Yogyakarta Basarnas previously received information that a dangerous condition had occurred, one person was swept away in the Opak Imogiri River, Bantul Regency, DIY on Tuesday, June 21 afternoon.

"The chronology that we received, Suryanto and his wife, WN, and their young child, were about to throw themselves into the Opak River, suspected of committing suicide," he said.

However, residents who knew about his actions made rescue efforts, so that his wife and child could be saved by the residents and had not been able to fall, but it was Suryanto who was swept away by the river current.
