JAKARTA - The youngest hajj candidate among the Central Sulawesi pilgrims who departed for the Holy Land during the 2022 hajj pilgrimage was only 21 years old.
Sub-coordinator of the Regular Hajj Registration and Document Section of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of Central Sulawesi Province, Arifin when contacted, said that among the 904 Hajj candidates from Central Sulawesi who will depart for the Holy Land, there are two 21-year-olds, one woman from Poso and one man from Palu. .
"Not many young (citizens) like this have fulfilled the fifth Pillar of Islam from Central Sulawesi," said Arifin, Wednesday, June 22, as reported by Antara.
He said that the government campaigned for the Hajj movement at a young age. According to the provisions for the registration of Hajj services, residents who can register for Hajj are at least 12 years old.
"Performing the pilgrimage is not later in old age, but basically seen from the ability, physically, financially, mentally and spiritually," said Arifin.
He also explained that according to the provisions for the implementation of the Hajj set by the Government of Saudi Arabia, the age limit for this year's pilgrims is a maximum of 65 years.
According to him, there are 33 members of the 65-year-old pilgrims from Central Sulawesi Province who are prospective hajj pilgrims.
Pilgrims from Central Sulawesi are scheduled to depart for the Balikpapan Embarkation area in East Kalimantan Province starting June 23, 2022.
According to Arifin, the first group of pilgrims from Central Sulawesi to depart for the Holy Land consisted of 162 people from Palu, 35 people from Morowali, 27 people from North Morowali, 113 people from Banggai, 11 people from Banggai Laut, and eight people from Banggai Islands. .
