Make This Mistake, Nine Indonesian Citizens Deported From Timor Leste
KUPANG - The Immigration Office Class II Atambua Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, has again received nine Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were deported by the Government of Timor Leste.
"Nine Indonesian citizens were deported for violating the illegal border crossing between Indonesia and Timor in Belu," said Head of the Class II Immigration Office of TPI Atambua, KA Halim, in a statement received in Kupang, Monday, June 20.
He mentioned the nine Indonesian citizens, respectively Antonio Pires (29), Emilia Sese (28), Fidelia Pires (27), Abelina Pires (27), Madalena P Gusmao (20), Victor Pires (18), Reonijio Pires (15), Elias Pires (16), and Delfina Pires (60).
The Indonesian citizen is a relative who crossed the border area illegally by chartering a boat via Atapupu Belu Beach to Atsabe District of Timor Leste on Friday 17 June.
The purpose of their trip was to carry out a 40-day flower-sowing ceremony for the death of a relative in Timor Leste.
They were then detained by the Timor Leste immigration authorities on Sunday, June 19 when they were about to board a boat at Atsabe District Beach to return to Indonesian territory.

After being checked, the Indonesian citizen cannot show a valid and valid travel document or passport.
"They admitted that they passed illegally because their relatives in Timor Leste contacted them suddenly and had to attend immediately and had to attend the event," he said.
The Timor Leste Immigration Office then sent them home and were received by the Atambua TPI Immigration officer at the Mota'ain State Border Post (PLBN) Belu Regency.
Halim said that his party had also recorded and examined their immigration documents as was done with Indonesian citizens who had previously committed similar violations, as well as warned again that the action taken was a violation of the law.
"They have been warned explicitly not to repeat their actions and if they cross state borders, they must make travel documents or passports and must go through the Immigration Checkpoints," he said.
