Andrea Dovizioso MotoGP Values Have Changed A Lot: Only 4 Riders Adapt Quickly
JAKARTA – WithU Yamaha RNF Racing racer, Andrea Dovizioso assesses that currently the MotoGP race has changed a lot. Not many riders can quickly adapt to a MotoGP bike concoction.
According to the rider who is undergoing his 20th season at the prestigious motorcycle world championship, currently there are only four riders who can adapt to MotoGP bikes. The four riders are Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia), and the Ducati duo Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini.
"Fabio is the most stable at the moment, both mentally and in terms of understanding the bike. It is he who can also be the most consistent throughout the season," said Dovizioso as quoted by Speedweek.
Currently, Quartararo as the defending champion still occupies the top position in the drivers' standings by collecting 147 points. He is 22 points ahead of Aleix Espargaro who is trailing in second place.
The Ducati duo Bastianini and Bagnaia are in the competition for the top five standings. The second filled third and fifth place flanking French rider Johann Zarco who also races for Ducati.
"But I saw an Aleix and Aprilia who are aware of how they work and need to be close to the end to be competitive. That's why they took home the podium. The consistency is there and I hope they continue like this," he said.
"I think Bastianini and Pecco have a bit more pace than the others. That means they can chase points and win more races. However, that doesn't mean they did it, but I think they have the potential to do it," added Dovizioso.
The 2022 MotoGP race will enter its tenth series this weekend. The race will take place at the Sachsenring Circuit, Germany, on Sunday, June 19.
