Police Reveal Online Prostitution In Pamekasan, 2 Pimps Become Suspects
PAMEKASAN - Police officers from Pamekasan, East Java, revealed the practice of undercover prostitution online through the social media application miChat in an operation to create conditions targeting various types of public ills, which was held from May 23 to June 3.
"We have named five people as suspects in this case, including two pimps from Kediri and Pamekasan," said Pamekasan Police Chief AKBP Rogib Triyanto, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 14.
The online prostitution practice through the Michat social media platform was revealed by the cyber patrol team and the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Pamekasan Police.
The team managed to track down the alleged online prostitution practice by pretending to be a potential service user, so that the forbidden practice was finally exposed.
Muncikari directs potential customers who communicate via the michat platform to two boarding houses on Jalan Raya Pamekasan-Sumenep and a boarding house with the address at Jalan Nugroho, Pamekasan.
The police chief explained that apart from identifying the suspect, the police also confiscated evidence in the form of cash worth Rp. 350 thousand.
"Our suspect is snared under Article 506 or 296 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 3 months or 1 year in prison," said the Police Chief.
In addition to successfully uncovering online prostitution practices, the police also uncovered a number of other public ills during the operation, with a total of 38 suspects.
Among them were six suspects in the thuggery case, 12 in the gambling case, seven in the liquor case, one in the explosives case, six in the drug case and one in the firecracker possession case.
"And the team's success in uncovering many cases of public illness during this operation to create conditions cannot be separated from the active role of all parties," he said.
