Haven't Found The Best Game At Indonesia Open 2022 Despite Winning, Leo/Daniel: Not Playing Very Well, Still Many Die Alone
JAKARTA - The men's doubles pair, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel, admitted that they had not yet found the best game at the Indonesia Open 2022.
Leo/Daniel have just qualified for the second round of the BWF Super 1000 tournament after winning 21-16 and 21-17 over French representatives Fabien Delrue/William Villeger at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, June 14.
"The evaluation is that we played very poorly today. Many still die alone and many make their own mistakes. In the future we have to improve that and be more focused and fight again on the field," Daniel said at a press conference.
Leo/Daniel will next face Danish eighth seed Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen. On paper the strength of these two pairs is equally strong.
They share one win each from the two encounters that have taken place between them. The two meetings took place at the Barcelona Spain Master 2020 and the Thailand Open 2021.
Daniel said that in terms of strength they are quite balanced. However, they must anticipate a typical European game which often delays service and provokes the opponent's emotions.
"Anyway against Europe like that and we have to anticipate. We've met before and whoever is better prepared on the pitch will win," said Daniel.
Leo/Daniel are one of eight men's singles taking part in this year's Indonesia Open.
They are one of two pairs that have qualified for the second round with Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon.
