Back To Istora Enjoy The Indonesia Open 2022 After Recovering From A Knee Injury, Carolina Marin: Happy To Play Here, One Of The Favorite Tournaments
JAKARTA - Women's singles badminton from Spain, Carolina Marin said she was happy to be able to feel the excitement of Istora Senayan again, which was the venue for the Indonesia Open 2022. Not only that, Marin also mentioned the Super 1000 tournament in Indonesia as one of her favorite events.
Marin's words don't seem too exaggerating, considering that he had suffered a knee injury and had just returned to feeling the excitement of badminton lovers in Jakarta.
"I'm happy to play here at Istora. I'm happy to be back playing with the crowd in the stadium. So yes, this is one of my favorite tournaments," said Marin after the match.
Marin appeared in the first round of the Indonesia Open on Tuesday afternoon. In this party he managed to win two games with a score of 21-17 and 21-17 over the Danish representative, Julie Dawall Jakobsen.
The victory in the first party at the moment of Marin's return to Istora Senayan was also recognized by the athlete because of the support from the audience. Marin said support continued to flow for him even though he was not the host.
"I love playing here, I have a lot of fans here. They continue to support me," said Carolina Marin continued.
The Indonesia Open 2022 is the first time Marin has set foot again at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, since her last appearance at the 2019 Indonesia Masters in January.
The Indonesia Masters 2019 event was an unforgettable moment for Marin. Not only because of the support, but at that moment he also suffered an injury.
In the 2019 Indonesia Masters final, Marin suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee. Due to this condition, the 28-year-old badminton player was forced to step down and hand over the trophy to his opponent, Saina Nehwal, the representative of India.
After his injury improved, Marin got up and won several times in the BWF World Tour tournament. But the same injury hit his left knee again two months ahead of the Tokyo Olympics in May 2021.
This situation forced Marin to take a vacuum to focus on healing. She then made a comeback at the 2022 European Championship by winning the women's singles title. Conditions that began to improve made Marin take part in defending his country in the 2022 Uber Cup before finally setting foot again at Istora Senayan to appear at the Indonesia Open 2022.
