Manggarai Station Still Crowded With Passengers, KAI Will Operate Matraman Station
JAKARTA - VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Anne Purba said that his party together with the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation will operate Matraman Station in the near future.
The Commuter Line KRL station which will be opened is located on Jalan Matraman Raya, East Jakarta. Anne said this station is strategic for users around the Matraman, Kampung Melayu, Jatinegara, and Manggarai areas.
The east side of the station is directly connected to Jalan Raya Matraman and integrated with the Trans Jakarta bus stop Corridor 5.
Anne said that the opening of Matraman Station is expected to be able to break down the density of passengers at Manggarai Station which is still occurring due to a route diversion or switch over that was implemented two weeks ago. "Matraman Station is expected to be an alternative for users to get on and off other than at Manggarai Station and Jatinegara Station and users around the station area," said Anne in her statement, Monday, June 13.
Anne explained, Matraman Station has user service facilities such as counters, service rooms for left behind, lactation rooms, health posts, toilets, prayer rooms, facilities for disabled users, lifts and escalators as well as parking areas.
"For security and safety this station is also equipped with CCTV, fire extinguishers (APAR), fire alarm systems and lightning rods," he said.
In preparation for the operation of Matraman Station, the KAI Commuter and PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta have carried out a trial of KRL trips, a signaling system test, and trials of other rail travel operational infrastructure.
"All user service facilities have also been equipped and ensured that they can function properly prior to the operation of this station," said Anne.
Since the enactment of the new KRL travel operation pattern, the trend of users at Manggarai Station on weekdays was recorded as more than 5.6 million people or an average of 622,952 people per day, with the highest volume on June 6, which was 640,286 people.
