3 Rare Space Events In The Sky Of Indonesia, BRIN: Can Be Watched Starting June 14
JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) said the public could witness three quite rare space phenomena, namely the super strawberry full moon, the micro strawberry new moon and the super deer full moon on June 14 to July 14 2022.
"The super strawberry full moon is a full moon that occurs in June. While the super deer full moon is a full moon that occurs in July. This definition is also used for the new moon phase," said BRIN Research Center researcher Andi Pangerang in a written statement, Sunday 12 June.
As in the new moon phase in general, Andi said the super strawberry full moon, micro strawberry new moon and super deer full moon can cause higher sea tides than usual days.
The existence of a sun-earth-moon configuration or it could be sun-moon-earth that are in an in line position makes the emergence of larger tides. Moreover, this configuration, based on the Antara report, is also strengthened by the moon being at its closest point to the earth.
The highest sea tides will occur on June 14, 2022 and July 14, 2022, so it is recommended for fishermen not to go to sea in the two days before and two days after the peak of the phenomenon, which is between 12 to 16 June 2022, and 12 to 16 July 2022.
"This calculation only considers astronomical factors without looking at sea waves caused by wind storms," said Andi.
He said the astronomical tides on June 29 2022 also need to be considered. The tidal force during a micro new moon is 52 percent of the tidal force during a super new moon.
So it is necessary to watch out for these sea tides between two days before and two days after the peak of the phenomenon, which is between 27 June 2022 to 1 July 2022.
The Super Strawberry Full Moon will occur on June 14, 2022 at 18.51 WIB/19.51 Wita/20.51 WIT at a distance of 357,368 kilometers (km). Meanwhile, the new moon for micro strawberries will occur on June 29, 2022 at 09.52 WIB / 10.52 WITA / 11.52 WIT at a distance of 406,569 km.
The full moon of the super deer will occur on July 14, 2022 at 01:57 WIT/02:57 WITA/03:57 WIT at a distance of 357,418 km.
The micro strawberry new moon cannot be seen before sunrise, because it rises later than the sun and the moon's surface facing the earth is not exposed to sunlight so it looks dark.
"To witness this phenomenon, people just point their eyes in the direction of sunrise to sunset at a predetermined time. This phenomenon can be observed without the need for any optical equipment, unless you want to capture it in the form of photos or videos," he said.
Andi said the names for the three space phenomena came from The Farmer's Almanac. In June, the strawberry harvest was carried out, while in July the young stag started to grow its antlers.
"So this naming actually comes from the season markers and animal behavior that arises at certain seasons for Native Americans," said Andi.
Andi said that this full moon was special because it coincided with a super full moon or what is known as the perigem full moon. Meanwhile, the strawberry new moon coincides with the micro new moon or the apogee new moon.
He said this time the new micro moon was flanked by two super full moons that occurred on two consecutive months. This phenomenon last occurred in 2004 and 2013.
Thus, this phenomenon occurs once every nine years, so that the phenomenon will occur again in 2031 and 2040.
