Apriyani/Fadia Become Runner-up Indonesia Masters 2022 After Being Beaten By The World's Number 1 Pair
JAKARTA — The Indonesian women's doubles pair Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti had to settle for being runner-up at the Indonesia Masters 2022 badminton championship.
The 2021 Hanoi SEA Games gold medalist lost in straight sets 18-21 and 12-21 from Chinese representatives Cheng Qingchen/Jia Yifan at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, June 12, 2022.
Apriyani/Fadia had played well at the beginning of the first game. They had led 5-1, but four consecutive points produced by the opponent managed to equal the position.
After that, a tight duel was still shown by both partners. However, after the positions 6-6 and 7-7 Apriyani/Fadia started to fall behind and began to not be free to produce points again.
In the second game, only played tight on the first four points. After that, the numbers they came up with were really slow compared to the opponents who continued to advance.
Previously, in the mixed doubles the title was won by representatives of China, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong. The second place got their fourth title in this BWF Super 500 event after defeating the French representatives Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue.
This victory also made them the most successful mixed doubles at the Indonesia Masters event. Their title collection now surpasses the three titles belonging to Indonesian mixed doubles Liliyana Natsir/Tontowi Ahmad.
Then in the men's singles, the Danish representative, Viktor Axelsen, took home the championship title. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion got his first title at this event after overthrowing the Chinese Taipei representative Chou Tien Chen.
A new champion was also born in the women's singles after world number three Chen Yufei rose to the highest podium after defeating Thailand's representative Ratchanok Intanon. This title made Chen Yufei entitled to take home a prize of 27 thousand US Dollars or the equivalent of Rp. 394 million.
After this, Indonesia still has one more representative to compete in the final match, namely the men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto against Chinese representatives Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang.
