Prosecutors Detain 2 Corruption Suspects Rp. 625.2 Million In Tanimbar, Maluku
AMBON - The Public Prosecutor's Office for the Tanimbar Islands, Maluku, detained ZE and Mrs DZB, two suspects in the alleged corruption case of the Selaru District Government budget for the 2018 fiscal year, which cost the state finances Rp625.2 million.
"The detention of the suspect by the public prosecutor was based on a detention order dated June 10, 2022," said Head of Penkum and Public Relations of the Maluku Attorney General's Office, Wahyudi Kareba, in Ambon, quoted by Antara, Saturday, June 11.
The suspect ZE alias Zakarias was the former Head of the Selaru Subdistrict in 2018, while Mrs DZB was the former treasurer of expenses at the office.
Prior to the detention, the investigating prosecutor at the local district attorney's office handed over the second stage of the case file, evidence, and suspects to the public prosecutor and both were accompanied by a legal representative.
"Now the two suspects have been deposited in the Tanimbar Islands Police State Detention Center for the next 20 days," said Wahyudi.
The two suspects were detained after a rapid antigen test was carried out with a negative COVID-19 test result.
The detention of the two suspects was carried out for twenty days starting from June 10, 2022 to June 29, 2022 at the Tanimbar Islands Police Rutan, before the public prosecutor transferred the case file to the Corruption Court at the Ambon District Court.
