Minions And Ginting Compact To The Quarter Finals Of Indonesia Masters 2022

JAKARTA – The men's doubles pair Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon reached the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2022.

The Minions got the ticket after defeating the Thai representative Supak Jomkoh/Kittinupong Kedren at Istora, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, June 9, 2022.

Kevin/Marcus immediately pressed their opponents from the start of the first game by scoring four consecutive points. The success of maintaining the advantage allowed the Minions to lead 11-7 at the interval.

After the break the Minions still did not give their opponents the opportunity to freely generate points. An unsuccessful challenge from the opposing pair also made Kevin/Marcus win in the first game, 21-14.

In the second game, Marcus/Kevin got very fierce resistance. They were forced to only produce three points until the break.

After the interval, the 2017 and 2018 All England champions still struggled to catch up with their opponents. The result, the Minions had to give up with a landslide score of 8-21.

The dominance of the Thai envoy continued into the third game. However, the Minions were able to come back from falling behind at the break to close the game with a 21-18 victory.

Unfortunately, the success of Marcus/Kevin cannot be followed by the men's doubles of Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Martin and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Isfahani.

Leo/Daniel, who are 2019 junior world champions, were unable to reach the last eight after being beaten by the Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, 25-27, 21-14.

Meanwhile, Sabar/Reza ran aground after losing to another Malaysian pair, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, with a score of 21-23, 21-17, and 9-21. Goh/Nur will be facing Kevin/Marcus in the quarter-finals later.
