Golkar Says There Are Parties That Will Join KIB, Jazilul Fawaid: If Cak Imin Is The Candidate, PKB Joins
JAKARTA - General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, said that a new party would join the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB). However, he was reluctant to mention the details of the parties that would join the coalition.
In response to this, the Deputy Chairperson of the PKB, Jazilul Fawaid, welcomed the news. According to him, the United Indonesia Coalition is still open to a coalition with other political parties.
Jazilul also stated that PKB was ready to join KIB, as long as its general chairman, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin, was promoted as a presidential candidate.
"This means that KIB is still liquid and open. If Gus Muhaimin is the presidential candidate, PKB will join," Jazilul told reporters, Thursday, June 9. Furthermore, Jazilul assesses that the possibility of other political parties joining KIB is still very wide. Although, he said, KIB had met the presidential threshold.
"It is possible that other parties will also join. Even though the KIB has met the presidential threshold requirements," said the Deputy Chair of the MPR.
However, Jazilul emphasized that PKB was not the political party Airlangga was referring to. Because, PKB will still nominate Cak Imin as a presidential candidate.
"Yes, no. PKB still offers Gus Muhaimin a presidential candidate," he said.
