Left Behind By 66 Points From Fabio Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia Reluctant To Bury Dreams Of Becoming MotoGP Champion 2022
JAKARTA - Lenovo's Ducati racer, Francesco Bagnaia, does not want to bury his dream of winning the 2022 MotoGP world title even though he is far behind his rivals. According to him, the possibility of winning is still there even though it is smaller than before.
Currently, Bagnaia is in fifth place in the drivers' standings with 81 points. He is 66 points adrift of Fabio Quartararo who occupies the top position.
Actually, Bagnaia's performance this season is pretty good. In the nine races that have been played, Bagnaia has won twice. Unfortunately, he has fallen three times.
One of them occurred at the Barcelona MotoGP at the Catalunya Circuit, last weekend. At that time, Bagnaia, who was in third place after the start, fell down due to being hit by an LCR Honda rider, Takaaki Nakagami.
Bagnaia felt sure there was still a chance to catch up. The experience of last season, where he managed to cut 70 points in just five races, is a factor.
"I was determined to cut 70 points last season in five races, so I have the same pressure to cut 66 points over five races," Bagnaia said, as reported by Speedweek.
"But for sure, the probability is lower. But we still have a possibility, so I will try it," continued the Italian rider.
The 2022 MotoGP race still has 11 races left. Some of them are races that match the racing character of Bagnaia and Ducati.
One of them is the San Marino MotoGP. Of the three MotoGP races in Rimini, Bagnaia has two podiums, namely runner-up in the 2020 race and winning the 2021 season.
