Special Committee For DKI DPRD Learned Flood Management From The Mayor Of Surabaya, Risma
SURABAYA - The DKI Jakarta DPRD Flood Special Committee (Pansus) studied with the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini (Risma) regarding flood management in Surabaya.
Risma explained that the city of Surabaya is five meters above sea level, so that in the past during high tide, Surabaya was often flooded. In fact, he admitted that when he first became the Mayor of Surabaya, around 50 percent of the Surabaya area was flooded.
"Alhamdulillah, currently there are only 2.08 percent of inundation left in Surabaya," said Risma at the meeting, Thursday, October 22.
Risma explained that she continues to do various things to deal with floods in Surabaya. Among other things, the construction of channels on roads and villages.
"Even in the village, paving is also being carried out so that there is water infiltration," he said.
Risma also talked about the construction of wide and deep box culverts in various locations in Surabaya. On top of the box culvert, a road is built and several channels are also made for pedestrians, so that there are two functions that can be utilized.
"The most important thing is that the channels must be connected, everything must be connected, otherwise it will definitely become a problem, so sometimes if we are short of money, we prioritize the channel first, so that it doesn't overflow, the pedestrian can be worked on afterwards if there is money," he said. he.
There is also the construction of a reservoir or bozem, which currently has around 75 bozems in Surabaya. He also explained the importance of sluice gates and water pumps to overcome the rainy season, including the intensity of dredging and river normalization which continues to be carried out in various channels and rivers in Surabaya.
Meanwhile, the head of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Flood Special Committee, Zita Anjani, said that his party had visited Semarang before coming to Surabaya, to find out about the handling of floods there.
"Yesterday we went to Semarang. We already have a lot of knowledge related to flood prevention in 10 years, from 80 percent of the inundation points now only 13 percent. Earlier to Mrs. Risma's place, it was even more extraordinary, 50 percent of the flood points now only have 2.3 percent. Earlier we learned a lot from the city of Surabaya, "said Zita.
Zita said there were at least five suggestions from Risma that could be used as recommendations for overcoming the flood problem in DKI Jakarta. First, in the construction of roads must be accompanied by good drains to prevent flooding. "If the road is in DKI, if we open the bottom it will be destroyed. The channel must be fixed first, then continue running," he said.
Second, the water must be drained and stored properly. So the amount of water that enters must be known and can accommodate and must be able to drain properly. Third, the flood management master plan.
"Then the fourth is solidarity, collaboration between agencies in the city of Surabaya is good. If there is a flood, it is not only the task of the Public Works Service, but the Fire Department too. So the coordination is quite good," he continued.
While the fifth, Zita noted that the message given by the Mayor of Risma was that the water entering the river had to be broken down so it didn't stop. "So those are five messages from Mrs. Risma. We from the Flood Special Committee get a lot of knowledge. So later on, many recommendations come from the city of Surabaya and other cities. We got a lot earlier," he concluded.
