Despite Accepting Being Expelled From Gerindra, M. Taufik Confirms The Honorary Council Of The Party Has No Authority To Fire Him
JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party Honorary Council announced that a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Mohamad Taufik, was fired as a party cadre.
In response to this, Mohamad Taufik said the Party's Honorary Council did not have the authority to fire him. The party's leadership council (DPP) has the right to dismiss cadres.
"To my knowledge, the assembly does not have the authority to fire. The one who has the right to fire is the central leadership council," Taufik said at a press conference in Central Jakarta, Tuesday, June 7.
Taufik explained that the Party Honorary Council only has the right to provide recommendations to the DPP. Furthermore, the DPP will follow up on the recommendation with the authority to decide whether to issue a dismissal decree or not.
"The mechanism is like this, the Party Honorary Council convenes, then the assembly recommends to the DPP, for example I am fired. But it depends on the DPP whether you want to fire or not. That's it," he said.
However, Taufik admits that he accepts the decision gracefully. "If you have been fired, we will accept it graciously, with grace. Hopefully we will meet again in one struggle," he said.
Taufik also expressed his gratitude to the party led by Prabowo Subianto. He apologized if he had let the party down.
"I would like to thank Gerindra for raising me. Sorry if my journey has not reached the expected expectations," said Taufik.
After being expelled from the Gerindra Party, Taufik admitted that he was increasingly determined to leave his position as a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD. After that, Taufik will join the NasDem Party.
"If we are fired from a party, then the DPRD will automatically stop because the condition is that DPRD members are members of a political party. Even though I can remain a member of the council, I won't do it. Then, if I want to shift, move to NasDem, a party whose orientation is nationalism. , he said.
