Erick Thohir Plans To Merge Perum PFN With Telkom, This Is The Explanation Of The Deputy Minister Of BUMN Tiko
JAKARTA - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) plans to merge the State Film Production Public Company (Perum PFN) into PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk. This effort is made to strengthen the film ecosystem in the country.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of BUMN II, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo or Tiko during a Working Meeting with Commission IV, Tuesday, June 7.
Kartika assesses that Perum PFN will experience financial and other resource difficulties if it builds a film ecosystem alone.
"There is also a plan for Telkom to take over PFN. We see that PFN's film ecosystem if it stands alone, is difficult. We will incorporate PFN into the ecosystem at Telkom for film production," he said.
According to Tiko, the PFN takeover plan is currently under review. He said this was an effort by the Ministry of SOEs to maintain the sustainability of PFN.
By joining PFN into Telkom, Tiko continued, this will strengthen the national film ecosystem in the future.
"We see that seeing the PFN film ecosystem on its own is difficult. We will incorporate PFN into the ecosystem at Telkom for film production which will later be shown on the Telkom platform through Maxstream and Indihome," he said.
Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir had agreed to turn PFN into a film financing institution for filmmakers and the national film industry.
In a study conducted by the Ministry of SOEs, PFN as the state-owned film industry has the task of producing films and distributing them to the public.
