Bridge In Pasirjambu Bandung Collapses Eroded By River Overflow Due To Heavy Rain

BANDUNG - The access bridge for residents in Tenjolaya Village, Pasirjambu District, Bandung Regency, West Java, collapsed due to the erosion of the overflowing river after heavy rains. Head of Prevention and Preparedness of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Bandung Regency Hendra Hidayat said the incident happened at around 15.30 WIB when it was raining in the southern Bandung area. "There are currently no reports of casualties, the incident occurred in the afternoon at 15.30 WIB, it happened in the Ciwidey River," said Hendra in Bandung, West Java, quoted from Antara, Monday, June 6.

The incident, according to him, occurred when the current in the Ciwidey River was quite heavy. What's more, the swift current of the river overflowed into residential areas. However, according to him, so far the phenomenon of the swift current in the river has only had an impact on the collapsed bridge. He has not received any other reports related to the incident caused by the swift current in the river. "The collapsed bridge is an alternative bridge for the residents," said Hendra. It is hoped that they will always monitor the flow of the river, especially those who have houses on the banks of the river," he concluded.
