Jakarta Deputy Governor Confirms Jokowi Will Open Formula E Race
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria confirmed that President Joko Widodo was invited to watch Formula E. Riza confirmed that Jokowi would open the racing event on Saturday, June 4, tomorrow.
"The president is certainly invited. Not only invited but also open. We will wait," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, June 3.
Not only Jokowi, the committee and organizers of Formula E also invited all political party leaders to watch the electric car race.
"All party leaders are invited. But I don't know who can (attend) and who can't," said Riza.
Meanwhile, today the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan together with the Chairman of the Formula E Executive Committee Ahmad Sahroni checked the condition of the circuit for the last time before the race started tomorrow.
The former Minister of Education and Culture ensured that all the facilities and infrastructure for organizing this race were ready.
"We see that everything is ready in preparation. We hope that everything will go well. When asked what the surprise is, we hope that there will be no surprises. Everything is going according to plan," said Anies at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC).
Yesterday, Anies was asked to confirm the presence of President Joko Widodo to watch Formula E on Saturday, June 4. Instead of answering the question of the certainty of Jokowi's arrival, Anies said that everyone would be welcomed when they arrived at the Jakarta E-Prix circuit to watch the race. "Tomorrow we all have a list of invitees in the past week. So, we will see if it confirms. But basically everyone is invited," said Anies at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, June 2. Anies emphasized that Formula E is not a political activity. This electric car racing event, for Anies, is a sporting event organized by the DKI Provincial Government, in collaboration with Formula E Operations and the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI). an opportunity for Indonesia, for Jakarta, to be on the world stage. We hope everyone invited can enjoy, celebrate Jakarta and the world," he said.
