2 Criminal Cases In Bantul Settled Through Restorative Justice, One Of Them Is Persecution Of Women

BANTUL - The Bantul Resort Police (Polres), Yogyakarta Special Region, has resolved two criminal cases through restorative justice.

"This restorative justice is carried out based on the result of a peace agreement in deliberation between the victim and the perpetrator," said the Head of the Sanden Police, AKP Haryanto, accompanied by the Head of Idik IV of the Bantul Police Satreskrim Ipda Ginas Tanggon in a press statement during the settlement of the case in the Mediation Room of the Bantul Police, Antara, Thursday, June 2. .

The two cases that were resolved through mediation occurred in Sanden District, namely the case of abuse by a man with the initials AI (23) from Gadingsari Village, Sanden against his younger sister, ATS (18), in Gadingsari last Saturday, April 30.

Meanwhile, the only case was an attempted theft at Hartanto's house (31), a resident of Pranti, Gadingharjo Village, Sanden District, on Sunday by a man with the initials YYL (48), a resident of Mantrijeron, Yogyakarta City, who was caught by a friend of the victim during the act.

The settlement of cases to return to their original state before a case occurred was attended by the victim and the perpetrator, and witnessed by the head of the neighborhood unit and the local hamlet.

According to him, peace between the perpetrator and the victim is in accordance with Police Regulation Number 08 of 2021 concerning Handling Crimes Based on Restorative Justice. He explained that restorative justice was a program launched by the National Police Chief General of Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

The handling of this case is a step to follow the dynamics of the development of the legal world which has begun to shift from positivism to progressive. "This is to fulfill the community's sense of justice," he said.
