SURABAYA - The Surabaya Corruption Court judges sentenced the Probolinggo regent to inactive Puput Trantriana Sari and her husband, Hasan Aminuddin, to 4 years in prison. The husband and wife were found guilty of corruption in the position arrangement.
"Stating that the defendant Puput Tantriana Sari and the defendant Hasan Aminuddin were jointly proven legally and convincingly to have violated the law as stated in the indictment," said the presiding judge reading the verdict at the Surabaya Corruption Court, Thursday, June 2.
In addition to imprisonment, Tantri and Hasan are also required to pay a fine of IDR 200 million each with a subsidiary of two months in prison. Not only that, specifically for the defendant Tantri, he is required to compensate the state for losses of Rp. 20 million, subsidized for six months in prison.
The two defendants were found guilty of violating Article 12a of the Corruption Eradication Act. The verdict is much lighter than the prosecutor's demands.
Previously, the Public Prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded that the two defendants be sentenced to eight years in prison and cut their prison terms.
Both are also required to pay a fine of Rp800 million and, specifically for the defendant Tantri, are required to compensate the state for Rp20 million. Both the defendant and the prosecutor expressed their thoughts on the decision.
The case began with an arrest operation carried out by the KPK team against Tantri and Hasan Aminuddin in August 2021. At that time, the two were suspected of conducting transactions related to the sale and purchase of positions at the village and sub-district levels. Apart from Tantri and Hasan, several other people have also become patients in this case.
In addition to the case of selling and buying positions, KPK investigators are making developments to ensnare both of them with the Law on the Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU). A number of parties, including several family members of Tantri and Hasan, have been investigated by the KPK some time ago.
In the ML case, until now the KPK has not named a suspect.
