Sandiaga Uno To Singapore's Minister Of Health: Indonesia's Security Condition Is Stable, Tourism And Creative Economy Are More Ready To Welcome Back Tourists

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno assured Singapore's Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung that the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia is getting better handled.

"Security conditions are also stable, so that the tourism and creative economy sectors are more ready to welcome back tourists," he said at Tanamera Coffee Indonesia in Singapore, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 2.

The meeting discussed COVID-19 policies in the two countries, economic recovery, and handling the virus.

"We have opened the border to restore the economy and create jobs," said the Menparekraf.

Furthermore, he stated that the policies related to COVID-19 in Indonesia had become more adaptive for foreign travelers, including tourists.

A number of tightening policies, including PCR or antigen testing for foreign tourists to Indonesia, have also been discontinued for travelers who have received full vaccinations.

They also discussed the possibility of cooperation in sports tourism events, namely the marathon, as well as the Singapore Minister of Health's plan to visit Indonesia to attend the G20 event in Bali, then to Papua.

"We have a promise to dive together in Raja Ampat, Papua," said Sandiaga Uno.

Singapore's Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung stated that over the past two years, there have been various policy tightenings such as travel restrictions that have an impact on the tourism sector.

"We really hope that the Indonesian government will continue its efforts to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic situation and keep everything stable. Together with Singapore and other ASEAN countries, make Southeast Asia an attractive destination as a region destination," he said.
