PGI General Chair Calls Army Chief Of Staff Dudung Brings Enlightenment To Christians, Asks To Firmly Face Intolerant Groups
JAKARTA - The Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman visited the headquarters of the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) in Salemba, Central Jakarta, today. Dudung wants to build synergy with interfaith leaders.
KSAD Dudung said his visit to meet with the PGI Central management had been planned for a long time.
In addition, his activities to visit religious figures are also a priority effort in responding to phenomena that can lead to national division, namely intolerant attitudes and the emergence of foreign cultures that are considered the most correct.
"Middle Eastern countries which are one landmass can be devastated because someone wants and makes it like that," Dudung said in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 31.
"Indonesia, with the foundation of diversity, unity, and integrity, and the roof of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), is expected to be maintained and not suffer the same fate as several Middle Eastern countries," he said.
"If the Indonesian people used to be able to unite against the invaders or now they can unite to support the Indonesian national football team competing against other countries, then why can't we unite now to face internal threats," he said.
During the visit, Dudung's arrival was welcomed by the General Chair of the PGI Center, Gomar Gultom, the General Secretary of the PGI Center, Jacky Manuputty, and the board of directors.
Gomar Gultom said Dudung's arrival had brought enlightenment to all religious people, especially Christians.
He said he strongly supports TNI AD soldiers who are strong, tough, and professional because it is to defend Pancasila from various forms of interference.
"We all hope that General Dudung will not hesitate to face groups who want to shift Pancasila in order to create a sense of security and peace in all corners of the country," said Gultom.
