Pekalongan City Government Spreads Anti-Smoking Stickers, Hopes Citizens' Willing To Quit Smoking Becomes Strong
PEKALONGAN - Pekalongan City Government (Pemkot) held a sympathetic action by distributing stickers containing anti-smoking messages in a series to welcome World No Tobacco Day.
Head of the Public Health Division of the Pekalongan City Health Office (Dinkes) Indah Kurniawati said the purpose of the action was to remind the public that tobacco contains more negative effects on health.
"Yes, this sympathetic action aims to arouse people's curiosity to learn about the content in tobacco which has more negative effects from tobacco use," he said in Pekalongan, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 31.
The sympathetic action was held at five points, namely at Simpang Lima Pekalongan, the intersection of Grogolan, Ponolawen, Sorogenen, and Pekalongan City Square.
Indah hopes that through this sympathetic activity, people will have a strong desire to quit smoking.
In addition, the local Health Office encourages policy makers not to hesitate to make regulations for smoke-free areas.
"By carrying the theme Protect the Environment, we want the city government to continue to implement appropriate regulations to regulate the distribution, production of tobacco and manage waste so that it does not cause much environmental damage," he said.
The sympathetic action to welcome World No Tobacco Day in the area involved 80 participants consisting of elements from the Health Office, puskesmas, and professional organizations.
