Surabaya City Government And IDI Synergize To Handle Health Problems
JAKARTA - The Surabaya City Government and the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) continue to work together to address health issues in the City of Heroes, East Java.
"Hopefully all doctors in the city of Surabaya will always be given the ease and strength from Gusti Allah to serve the community," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi as quoted by Antara, Sunday.
According to him, the Surabaya City Government (Pemkot) is currently fixing the health care system in all health facilities (fasyankes) to accelerate the resolution of stunting infants, malnutrition, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and reduce active cases of COVID-19.
Eri said the city government always prioritizes public health by synergizing with health workers, Great Surabaya Cadres, and the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Surabaya City Branch.
Because, he said, health science is very important to create a healthy and great generation, as future leaders of the nation.
"One example that is close to us is when Surabaya was rocked by COVID-19, the Surabaya City Government continued to be accompanied by great doctors who were struggling to help the State of Indonesia to be free from the pandemic immediately," said Eri.
In fact, he continued, when the municipal government faced stunting and malnourished babies, IDI Surabaya responded quickly. In fact, all universities within the Faculty of Medicine in Surabaya have participated in alleviating health problems.
"They flocked to directly deal with malnutrition, starting from giving vitamins and calculating food nutrition. After being assisted by IDI and universities, from 6,000 stunting babies within four months, it immediately fell drastically to 1,000," he said.
He said, in the future medical science will be the spearhead in making a country great and prosperous. Not only that, he also apologized to the doctors who were present at the activity, if there were residents of Surabaya who scolded them, blaming the doctors for the services provided.
"I apologize as a resident of the city of Surabaya, as if the service is not good, even though these doctors have been extraordinary in handling a diverse community. I ask panjenengan (you) to be patient with the residents of Surabaya," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of IDI Surabaya Branch, Dr. Brahma Askandar, said that for the past two years, his party and the Surabaya City Government have continued to work hand in hand to solve various kinds of problems regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also appreciated the Surabaya City Health Office (Dinkes) for participating in the fight against COVID-19. "Thank you Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi for your support, making it easier for us to provide health services to the community," he said.
