Cirebon City Forms Cooking Oil Price Control Task Force
JAKARTA - Regional Secretary of Cirebon City, West Java Agus Mulyadi said the Cirebon City Government would form a task force (satgas) to control cooking oil prices, to ensure the availability and price of the commodity.
"A task force for controlling the price of cooking oil will be formed, with the chairman being the mayor," Agus said as quoted by Antara, Sunday.
Agus said the task force would later continue to monitor the movement of cooking oil prices, especially those in bulk, so that they could be controlled and would not become a polemic in the community.
According to him, a team consisting of the Cirebon City Government, TNI, and Police was formed to supervise, especially the distribution of bulk cooking oil, from companies, distributors, and even to consumers.
Because, Agus continued, not all of the traders are following the highest retail price (HRT) of cooking oil.
"We will continue to monitor, so that prices can match the HET and also supply is sufficient," he said.
Agus added that during monitoring, his party also found differences in the price of bulk cooking oil, and some even sold more than the HET.
Thus, his party issued a warning by rebuking directly to traders who sold at prices above HET.
"We have given warnings, if they persist, we will reprimand them again, until the heaviest sanction is revocation of business licenses," he said.
