Succeeding G20, BMKG Bangka Belitung Prepares Special Information On Weather Developments

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province will provide information specifically on the development of weather conditions during The Group of Twenty (G20) on Belitung Island in September 2022. Currently, the BMKG of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province has weather radar equipment, AWOS, Toboli AAWS, Lubuk Besar ARG, Air Gegas ARG, and a tool park to monitor the development of weather conditions in this area.

"Alhamdulillah, we have the equipment to monitor weather developments for the success of the G20 on Belitung Island", said the Head of the BMKG for the Babylon Islands Province, Agus Tri, quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 29.

He also said that currently, we are trying to add to the network, to strengthen data on observations of rain, sea level, and others.

The Acting Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Ridwan Djamaluddin, assigned the Bangka Belitung BMKG to participate in the success of the G20 because Belitung Island stands out tourism such as Lengkuas Island, which requires information regarding good weather or not to visit the island.

"It will be very necessary later, especially if tourists or guests who come for example want to go to Lengkuas Island. It's dangerous if, for example, the weather turns out to be bad and we don't know about it", he said.

According to him, the previous governor, Erzaldi Rosman, had asked to display the latest weather forecasts at the airport, tourist attraction port, and the Sheraton Belitung Hotel.

"We must prepare for the implementation of the G20 as best we can so that the G20 on Belitung Island runs well", he said.
