Banner Of Firli Bahuri Forward To 2024 Presidential Election Appears, Ex-KPK Investigator: It's Better To Post Harun Masiku's Photo

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Yudi Purnomo Harahap highlighted the appearance of banners supporting KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri to run in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

According to him, it is better to put on the banner a photo of Harun Masiku, who is a fugitive from the KPK. Not campaigning for Firli Bahuri as a presidential candidate.

This step is considered to be more helpful for the anti-corruption commission to complete its task of searching for corruption suspects who have run away.

"My suggestion is that instead of putting up a banner supporting the presidential candidate, it's better to post a photo of Harun Masiku," Yudi said as quoted from his Twitter account @yudiharahap46 on Saturday, May 28.

Harun Masiku is a suspect in the bribery case for interim replacement (PAW) for members of the DPR RI. He is suspected of bribing former General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his whereabouts are unknown to this day.

Yudi added that apart from Harun Masiku, the banner could also contain the faces of other fugitives from the KPK. So, people know their faces.

"So that people know their faces better, so be alert & report to the KPK if there are similar people," he said. "You also help Mr. Firli's unfinished task."

Previously, banners with Firli's face were installed in a number of locations. From the photos circulating there are two different types of banners installed.

The first one reads, "We need a president who is keen to fight corruption, Firli Bahuri for Indonesia".

While the second banner, the basic color is red and white. Then, a photo of Firli smiling wearing a cap was seen with the words, "Banten people urge anti-corruption figures to run in the 2024 presidential election. #DukungIndonesiaBersih".

Regarding the installation of this banner, the KPK admitted that it did not know who did it. Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, also emphasized that the billboard installation was not part of the agency's program.

"We make sure that the billboard installation is not a KPK program," Ali told reporters in a written statement, Friday, May 27.

Firli Bahuri asked that he not be associated with the 2024 Presidential Election. He said that he now prefers to focus on eradicating corruption.

"I am not affected by the issue of presidential candidates and presidential candidates," said Firli in a written statement to reporters quoted on Saturday, May 28.

"I always say and I have repeatedly said on various occasions that don't bother me with the issue of presidential candidates and presidential candidates," added the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK.

He emphasized that he had no thoughts of advancing in the political contestation. Firli chooses to focus on completing his duties until his term ends in 2023.

Not only that, Firli said that he actually has other aspirations, namely to make Indonesia free of corruption. "I am focused on working to eradicate corruption and I will complete my duties as Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission until the end of 2023," he said.
