Careful! There's A “Wrapped LUNA 2.0” Scam That Takes Advantage Of The New Terra (LUNA) Launch
JAKARTA – In the midst of the hectic launch of LUNA 2.0, crypto scammers or fraudsters are reportedly carrying out their actions. They use to spread fake airdrops into the crypto community to ensnare potential victims.
According to data analytics and blockchain security firm PeckShield, it has identified a scammer who sent a token called “Wrapped LUNA 2.0” to a well-known Ethereum address. This tactic is meant to mimic the actual LUNA re-launch airdrop that took place on Friday.
PeckShield reports that the recipients of the new token include Vitalik Buterin (founder of Ethereum), Andreesen Horowitz, Justin Sun (founder of Tron) and company Three Arrows Capital.
CryptoPotato reports initially the tokens were sent to Terra Deployer from an anonymous address last Thursday and then sent to relevant individuals, to mimic Terra's official airdrop.
After forking the Terra blockchain and launching the new LUNA token, the old token will be renamed Terra Classic (LUNC). Meanwhile, new LUNA will be allocated to token holders via crypto exchanges.
The new LUNA token will not be tied to the algorithmic stablecoin TerraUSD (UST) whose price has plummeted. The new token will be fully allocated to the community.
