Ganjar Recalls Last Meeting With Buya Syafii At The Hospital: I Was Warmly Welcomed
YOGYKARTA - The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, who was in Yogyakarta to attend the UGM Chancellor's inauguration ceremony, was shocked to hear the news that the former chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Buya Syafii Maarif had died.
"Yes, I just received news. I express my deep condolences for the passing of Buya Syafii Maarif. He is a role model who is always soothing," said Ganjar in his statement, Friday, May 27.
During his life, the figure of Buya Syafii was very memorable for Ganjar. The last time Ganjar visited the hospital was on 15 May. At that time, Buya was so excited to welcome him and told him many things.
"When I came in, Mr. Governor, how are you? Where's my mask, I want to tell you. That's what he said. Until the last time I was touched, Buya asked for a photo with me. He welcomed me very warmly. He also always gives spirit to those of us who still young," he explained.
Ganjar said he had known Buya Syafii Maarif since he was a student. At that time, he had invited Buya Syafii to give a lecture.
"Then I've been to his house, with a very relaxed style. Buya I went there, yes, it's extraordinary. So several times I met him, indeed wonge Senk (indeed a very warm person)," he concluded.
The body of the Muslim scholar who was also the former General Chair of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Syafii Maarif or known as Buya Syafii Maarif will be buried at the Muhammadiyah Cemetery in Donomulyo Hamlet, Kapanewon Nanggulan, Kulon Progo Regency.
"After the Asr prayer, we will depart for the Husnul Khotimah Cemetery in Sentolo Sub-district, Kulon Progo," said Head of PP Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir.
Before leaving for Kulon Progo, Buya Syafii's body is currently buried at the Gedhe Kauman Mosque, Yogyakarta.
"It will be prayed until Asr and after the Asr prayer will be sent to the cemetery," he said.
