President Jokowi To Attend The Opening Of The 2022 GPDRR In Nusa Dua Bali

BADUNG - President Joko Widodo will be present to deliver a speech at the 7th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) 2022 event which will take place at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center on Wednesday, May 25.

"RI President Joko Widodo will attend and deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the GPDRR tomorrow morning. He will be present with high-ranking officials from both international partnerships and from within the country," said Deputy for System and Strategy of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Raditya Jati in Media Bali GPDRR Center quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 24.

Raditya said that this opening marked the start of the main activities of GPDRR, starting from thematic sessions to other additional events.

In addition, several international officials include Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Amina J Mohammed, UN Special Envoy for Disaster Risk Reduction Mami Mizutori, President of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid, Vice President of Zambia Mutale Nalumango.

"Then several ministers from various countries who recorded more than 30 ministers from abroad are present at this time," said Raditya.

He explained that the 2022 GPDRR activity was on a world scale and was organized by the United Nations together with Indonesia, and was attended by representatives of more than 185 countries registered as attending.

Meanwhile, officials from Indonesia who will be accompanying President Jokowi are the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Law and Human Rights, Minister of Social Affairs, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, The National Police Chief, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency, and Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency.

Raditya said that in organizing this activity, Indonesia carried the spirit of "Strengthening Partnerships Towards Sustainable Resilience."

"And we also hope that this event will encourage more cooperation in disaster risk reduction, and global commitment to sustainable resilience, in accordance with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030," said Raditya.
