Get Ready, Odd-even License Plate Regulation In Jakarta Will Return To 25 Road Sections Next Week

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the odd-even implementation in the capital will be expanded to 25 roads next week.

The odd-even implementation of 25 road sections had taken effect before the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, currently odd-even applies in 13 roads.

"Currently, there are still 13 odd-even roads, but it is currently being evaluated to increase to 25 roads," said Syafrin when met in the Thousand Islands, Tuesday, May 24.

The odd-even implementation on these 25 roads has been stipulated in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Governor Regulation Number 88 of 2019 concerning Amendments to Governor's Regulation Number 155 of 2018 concerning Traffic Restrictions with the Odd-Even System.

Syafrin explained that the plan to restore the odd-even system on 25 roads was due to the traffic volume which is now starting to increase, along with the easing of restrictions on community activities.

"The reason is because the traffic volume is getting higher. Based on the data there is a 6.25 percent (traffic volume increase)," said Syafrin.

For information, in Pergub Number 88 of 2019, the odd-even policy applies from Monday to Friday starting at 06.00 a.m. - 10.00 a.m. and continues at 16.00 p.m. - 21.00 p.m.

There are also traffic restrictions on odd and even vehicle numbers, which are not enforced on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays which are stipulated by Presidential Decree.
