Looking For A New Racer, KTM Doesn't Want To Disturb Aleix Espargaro's Intimacy With Aprilia Racing

JAKARTA - The KTM team principal, Pit Beirer, said that his party has now changed their mind regarding the project for MotoGP 2023. The Austrian manufacturer is looking for a new rider.

KTM has established communication with the three riders currently available on the market, namely Jack Miller, Pol Espargaro and Alex Rins. However, the choice has not been made to whom.

Rumors emerged that KTM was also considering Aleix Espargaro, who performed exceptionally with Aprilia Racing in the 2022 MotoGP. This rumor was immediately denied by Beirer.

He said he had no intention of taking the Spaniard from Aprilia. KTM doesn't want to ruin Aleix's relationship with Aprilia.

"I look to Aprilia in amazement, because what Aleix has accomplished after such a tremendous development work for Aprilia is worthy of respect," Beirer said, as quoted by Speedweek.

"Aleix puts his mark on this project. He's actually part of the work team. We don't want to interfere, because Aprilia and Aleix are one package that belongs to each other. I don't expect anyone to break this package."

"Therefore there are no negotiations with Aleix. We have not touched this package. Aleix also did not approach us," he continued.

Instead, Beirer hopes that the two sides can continue to work together in the following seasons. According to him, the combination of Aleix and Aprilia will produce good results for both.

"Whatever is lost between Aleix and Aprilia from one side or the other, the two partners must work together because this package will also work well in the future," he said.
