BPBD Cianjur: Main Route Of Performances Affected By Landslide Can Be Passed

CIANJUR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur, West Java, stated that the main road connecting sub-districts in Situ Hiang Village, Pagelaran District, which was affected by the landslide, could now be passed by vehicles from both directions, so that economic activity could resume.

"The main route connecting villages and sub-districts in Pagelaran, which was blocked by landslides, can be passed after heavy equipment belonging to the Cianjur PUPR was brought down to the location," said Cianjur BPBD Secretary Rudi Wibowo when contacted in Cianjur, reported by Antara, Friday, May 20.

"This route is the main route to several tourist objects such as Situ Beber and Curug Ngebul, which are used by many vehicles, especially during holidays. Meanwhile, this route is the economic route for residents," he added.

He explained that the height and length of the landslide material made it difficult for joint officers to remove it because they used manual tools. After the heavy equipment arrived, the return route could be passed from both directions, but the mud left from the landslide was not completely clean.

His party appealed to road users who passed to be extra careful and alert because the road base was slippery, coupled with high rainfall, so that it could trigger further landslides. Meanwhile, anticipatory efforts were carried out by installing a bamboo fence holding the ground.

"We are trying to handle and prevent further landslides so they don't cut off road access again. The Situ Hiang route is an active economic route for residents every day. We urge residents and motorists to be extra careful when crossing," said Rudi Wibowo. The Head of Pagelaran District, Deny Widya, said that after being cut off for 24 hours, the main route connecting 4 villages in Pagelaran District and the main route to the mainstay tourist spot Curug Ngebul, was finally able to pass by vehicles from both directions, after the heavy equipment was lowered by the relevant agencies.

His party hopes that handling after the landslide can be carried out because the cliffs in the location are prone to landslides again when heavy rains fall with high intensity, while the road that stretches is the main route for the residents' economy and tourist route.

"We hope that maximum handling will be carried out immediately because the cliffs in the location are prone to landslides. For now, bamboo fences have been installed to prevent further landslides," said Deny Widya.
