Anti-money Socialization, Kulon Progo Bawaslu Visits Sub-Districts And Villages

KULONPROGO - The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Kulon Progo intensifies anti-money socialization to villages to create a democratic party with integrity and democracy during the 2024 General Election.

A member of the Kulon Progo Bawaslu, Panggih Widodo, revealed that the phenomenon of money politics has become entrenched in society, so it requires commitment and hard work from various parties to minimize the occurrence of money politics.

"The anti-money kelurahan/village movement is expected to be able to increase public awareness that money politics is a poison for democracy that has a very bad impact on the quality of elections and elections in Indonesia," said Panggih in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta Special Region, quoted from Antara, Friday 20 May.

He said there were four villages/kelurahan that had received APU socialization, one of which was Ngargosari Village. The enthusiasm of the participants in the discussion about the prohibition of money politics is quite high. Participants conveyed potential violations of money politics that may occur in the Ngargosari area.

"All participants are committed to supporting their sub-district to become an APU Village and are ready to be involved in activities carried out to prevent money politics in Ngargosari Village," he said.

The Chairperson of the Kulon Progo Bawaslu, Ria Harlinawati, added that the APU Village movement was a long-term movement. The success of this movement is when people are able to change the permissive culture in society about money politics.

However, continued Ria Harlinawati, changing culture is not something easy so that a massive movement is needed and a movement is impossible without awareness and awareness will not be formed without understanding.

"We must jointly educate the public to provide an understanding of the dangers of money politics," he said.
