The Big Crocodile That Worry About Inhil Riau Residents Was Evacuated

INDRAGIRI HILIR - The Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP) of Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau, evacuated a large crocodile that had been making residents of Sungai Ara Village restless.

Head of DPKP Indragiri Hilir Eddiwan Shasby said previously the Head of Sungai Ara Village, Kempas District, sent a letter to the Regent of Indragiri Hilir Muhammad Wardan containing public complaints regarding the frequent appearance of the crocodile.

"In response to the letter, we immediately dispatched a rapid reaction team (TRC) to evacuate the estuarine crocodile which has been troubling the community," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 19.

Eddiwan said that his party deployed two TRC teams, consisting of more than 20 people, accompanied by supervisors.

In addition, DPKP Indragiri Hilir also sent a medical team of three people. Before evacuating the estuarine crocodile, DPKP Indragiri Hilir first coordinated to formulate a strategy when evacuating the dangerous animal.

On Wednesday (18/5) at 16.30 WIB, TRC was in Sungai Ara Village and the team immediately went down the ditches where the crocodiles were often reported to appear.

The process of catching the crocodile took approximately five hours and failed several times because the crocodile to be caught was quite large. The team continued to search until nightfall.

"Exactly at 00.30 WIB Thursday morning, the TRC DPKP Indragiri Hilir Regency managed to evacuate the crocodile and was immediately secured at the Indragiri Hilir DPKP Headquarters on Jalan SKB Tembilahan, pending further coordination with the Rengat BKSDA," he said.

Eddiwan said that the crocodile caught by DPKP Inhil has a length of approximately 3 meters, with a body width of approximately 40-50 cm.

"Alhamdulillah, the operation carried out by the Indragiri Hilir DPKP went smoothly and well and all members are in good condition. The fatigue in carrying out their duties has paid off with the successful capture of the crocodile today," he said.
