KSP Encourages Supervision Of Imported Textiles Through Indonesian Language Labels And SNI
JAKARTA - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) encourages increased supervision of imported textile products through Indonesian language labels, SNI labels and certificates of origin of goods (SKA).
Deputy III KSP Panutan S. Sulendrakusuma said this effort is proof that the government supports the development of the domestic textile industry.
"KSP continues to strengthen coordination and synergy between ministries/agencies in increasing supervision of imported textile products, including the possibility of strengthening existing regulations," Panutan said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday.
To note, the Textile and Textile Product (TPT) industry is classified as a strategic and national priority industry, which has labor-intensive characteristics, so it can absorb up to 3.95 million workers.
Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that TPT performance in the first quarter of 2022 grew very well by 12.45 percent (yoy), much better before the pandemic.
Other indicators, such as increased exports, also grew well, reaching 28 percent. The utilization of the textile industry is also quite high, reaching 70-75 percent, which shows that the textile sector has considerable economic potential.
"We need to maintain the momentum of this already good performance with efforts and steps to maintain the domestic market through increased supervision of imported textile products, so that the domestic textile industry can continue to grow and the utilization of the industry can continue to be increased," concluded Panutan.
