Investigating Alleged Bribery For Retail Business Development Permits, KPK: Complete Announcement Made During Detention

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it is investigating allegations of bribery related to the granting of permits for the construction of a mini market retail branch in Ambon City in 2020. The collection of evidence is underway.

"It's true, the KPK is currently collecting various evidences to complete the investigation case file in the alleged bribery corruption case related to the approval of the principle permit for the construction of a retail business branch in Ambon City in 2020," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri to journalists in a written statement, Thursday, May 12.

Ali did not want to specify who the parties were named as suspects. An announcement will be made by the KPK when the arrests and detentions are made.

"For complete information regarding who the parties have been named as suspects, we have not been able to convey the description of the alleged article in detail," he said.

"The announcement of the suspect will be made when an attempt to force the arrest and detention is carried out," Ali added.

Ali asked the public to be patient and not develop assumptions. The development of this case, he continued, will be conveyed.

In addition, the public is asked to participate in monitoring the investigation into this alleged bribery case. Anyone with information can pass it on to the KPK.

"We will always convey the progress of each case handling to the public as a form of transparency and the KPK also hopes that the community will actively supervise and if they have information related to the investigation of this case, they can immediately inform," he said.

The KPK also asked the witnesses called in this case to cooperate. They were asked to honestly convey their knowledge in front of investigators.

"For those who are called as witnesses to be able to cooperate and explain honestly in front of the KPK investigators team," said Ali.
