West Java Governor: PPKM Will Always Be There Until It's Endemic
BANDUNG - West Java Governor M Ridwan Kamil said that the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) from the central government would always exist until the official declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic was declared to be endemic.
"The PPKM will exist forever until the pandemic is declared endemic. However, it will include many adjustments," he said when asked for his response about the PPKM extension period from the central government, reported by Antara, Wednesday, May 11.
He said he would continue the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to all regional heads in West Java regarding the extension of the PPKM which will last until May 23, 2022.
Even though the PPKM was extended, Kang Emil - Ridwan Kamil's nickname - allowed residents to carry out activities without a burden, but they still had to apply health protocols with discipline.
"That's why I heard the President's instructions from everyone, please do your activities, most importantly wear a mask," he said.
According to Kang Emil, West Java residents were given leeway because the pandemic situation was sloping.
"So we will do this (relaxed) by wearing masks, but when the endemic arrives, they won't be used anymore," he said.
