Discovery Of Gas Bursts From Ex-Bore Wells In Parigi, Central Sulawesi ESDM Asked To Do Research
SULTENG - The Department of Environment (DLH) of Parigi Moutong Regency has reported the discovery of natural gas by Parigi residents to the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of Central Sulawesi Province to be followed up with scientific research.
"We have been writing letters since last Tuesday, including letters to the Law Enforcement Team of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Gakkum KLHK) because this incident is also part of the environmental task," said Head of the Environmental Management and Arrangement Division of DLH Parigi Moutong Muhammad Idrus in Parigi, Between, Wednesday, May 11th.
He explained that his party had reviewed the former drilling of clean water wells that emitted gas. From that location, the truth test was then carried out, and it was stated that there was indeed natural gas content.
Therefore, the Central Sulawesi ESDM is asked to immediately take concrete steps, because it is not yet certain whether the gas content that comes out of the clean water well pipe is dangerous or not.
At that location, a police line has been installed for safety reasons, because the gas that comes out can trigger a fire if a lighter is used.
"Scientific research is needed to find out if the gas burst is harmful to local residents or not, so testing needs to be done as soon as possible," said Idrus.
Therefore, he asked local residents not to close the hole for a while and continue to let the gas out, fearing that if it was closed it could cause an explosion.
"We have conveyed to the residents, especially the plumbers, to keep the pipes plugged in, because a team from the ESDM Service will soon come down to inspect," said Idrus.
He appealed to local residents to avoid activities around the source of the gas burst, as an effort to anticipate the impact of the dangers caused, and not to start fires or the like that could trigger a fire.
"Given the location of this drilled well in a boarding house complex, residents temporarily stay away from areas that have been installed with police lines. This is for the common good," said Idrus.
