Supporting Export Performance Improvement, PLN Meets Electricity Needs For Porang Processing Companies

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) supports the improvement of national export performance by meeting the electricity needs of the porang processing industry and its derivatives.

This is reflected in the new connection of electricity to PT Mitra Porang Nusantara Daya at 197 kilo Volt Ampere (kVA) and the change in power from 10.6 kVA to 197 kVA.

General Manager of PLN Main Unit for Riau and Riau Islands Region (UIWRKR) Hartono said that Riau's electricity capacity reached 1,066.9 megawatts (MW) and peak load was 942 MW. This indicates that Riau Province has a surplus power of 124.9 MW.

"With this condition, we hope that investors will not have to doubt the availability of electricity supply in Riau Province," Hartono said in a statement to the media, Wednesday, May 11.

Electricity as the basic energy that supports productivity will greatly help increase industrial capacity. In this case, increased production of porang processing.

Hartono added that currently porang is one of the most popular commodities and the market is very open, both at home and abroad.

"With the porang factory that will operate using PLN electricity in Riau Province, of course, porang farmers both in Riau and neighboring provinces will look forward to it," he concluded.

Director of PT Mitra Porang Nusantara Ryan Adidharma Audwinto appreciated the new connection process and the request for additional power made by PLN.

"We are grateful for the services provided by PLN because with the current condition, the electricity at the porang processing plant has been sufficient to be able to operate in May after Eid," said Ryan.

Currently, PT Mitra Porang Nusantara has a capacity of 50 tons of fresh tubers and produces processed Porang into chips or powder which is exported to several destination countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, China and Australia.

"In the future, we plan that if the supply of raw materials is sufficient, we will develop the processing of porang into finished goods such as healthy noodles, tofu or rice," said Ryan.
