West Papua Provincial Government Again Wins WTP Predicate From BPK

MANOKWARI - The West Papua Provincial Government for the umpteenth time won the Unqualified Predicate (WTP) from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for the 2021 Regional Government Financial Report (LKPD).

The submission of the LHP from the BPK to the West Papua Provincial Government was carried out at a special plenary meeting of the West Papua DPRD chaired by Deputy Chair 3 Jopy Fonataba in Manokwari, Wednesday 11 May.

Member VI of the BPK as the Head of State Audit VI Pius Lustrilanang when reading his report said that for the eighth time the BPK RI gave a WTP opinion on the LKPD of the West Papua Provincial Government.

"This shows the West Papua Provincial Government's commitment to its regional financial reports," Lustrilanang said as quoted by Antara.

Since the 2014 LKPD, the West Papua Provincial Government has continued to receive WTP opinions from the BPK. This achievement, he said, could not be separated from the effectiveness and synergy of all stakeholders, both executive and legislative.

Even so, several things have become BPK's notes that the West Papua Provincial Government must immediately fix, including the lack of orderly School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds, management of grant spending in seven offices, and inadequate control over securing fixed assets.

"BPK found problems that should be of concern, namely weak internal control and non-compliance with laws and regulations in regional financial management," he said.

Responding to the recommendations submitted by the BPK, the Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan, instructed all OPDs to continue to make improvements and improvements to financial management, which will ultimately affect the administration of government in West Papua.

"Recommendations from BPK contain constructive suggestions to improve local government weaknesses, as soon as possible we will follow up on the findings," said Governor Mandacan.

Dominggus Mandacan, who in the next few days will end his term as Governor of West Papua, said he was happy because at the end of his term of office, the West Papua Provincial Government received a WTP opinion from the BPK.

The Dominggus Mandacan-Mohamad Lakotani pair were elected as Governor-Deputy Governor of West Papua after winning the Pilkada in 2017.

Both will end their terms on Thursday, May 12, 2022.
