Post-Eid, New Arrivals In Central Jakarta Must Report To RT And RW 1x24 Hours
JAKARTA - Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Irwandi, asked RT and RW to monitor new arrivals from the area who then live in eight sub-districts of Central Jakarta.
Even so, legal operations such as checking identity cards will not be carried out on newcomers. The reason, said Irwandi, DKI Jakarta is an open city for all residents.
"There is no judicial operation, but we ask the RT and RW to monitor new arrivals, there are many boarding houses in Central Jakarta, they report on population, where they come from, what they do," he said, Monday 9 May.
Irwandi requested that new arrivals be expected to report 1x24 hours from arriving in Jakarta to the local RT and RW to map relocation and population data.
He explained that DKI Jakarta, including Central Jakarta, is open to new arrivals, especially as labor is needed in line with improving economic conditions.
According to him, the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector requires a lot of workers from newcomers because of the more controlled COVID-19 cases, which has an impact on increasing their business activities.
"Because COVID is under control, there are also many who need it, including MSMEs to help their businesses. There is also a lot of need for the business world because the economy is growing again," he said.
Based on data from the DKI Dukcapil during 2020-2021, there was a decline in the immigrant population, especially during the backflow of Eid due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) estimates that the number of migrants will increase by 20 thousand to 50 thousand people after the 2022 Eid holiday due to one of the triggers for the COVID-19 case in the capital, which is increasingly under control.
Previously, it was reported that the Central Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Sub-Department (Sudin Dukcapil) estimates that around 1,500 people will enter the Central Jakarta area when the backflow of travelers occurs, Sunday, May 8.
"The prediction for people (new arrivals) who enter Central Jakarta will reach 1000 to 1500 people spread over 44 urban villages," said Central Jakarta Head of Sub-dept. of Dukcapil Ginanjar when contacted by VOI, Sunday, May 8.
Meanwhile, regarding the supervision of new arrivals in Central Jakarta when entering the peak of the return homecoming flow after Eid, the Central Jakarta Dukcapil Sub-dept. immediately conducted data collection on the newcomers.
"Data collection is through the citizen data application which is currently owned by each RT in each region," he said.
Later, after the RT heads input the data of new arrivals in their area, the data will be integrated directly into the Central Jakarta Dukcapil Sub-Department.
"The data entered by the RT will be immediately visible in the system," he said.
