This Is A Sport That Is Expected To Donate Indonesia's First Gold Medal At The 2021 SEA Games

JAKARTA - A total of 21 Indonesian pencak silat athletes left for Hanoi to take part in the 2021 SEA Games, Saturday 7 May. Their departure was released by the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Contingent, Ferry J Kono.

CdM Indonesia hopes that pencak silat will become a sport that will contribute to the inaugural gold medal at the 2021 SEA Games. It should be noted that pencak silat athletes will compete at the Bac Tu Liem Sporting Hall, Hanoi, on May 10.

On that date, a number of numbers will immediately compete for medals. The numbers are the art of the men's team, women's team, and men's doubles.

"We hope that the first gold for Indonesia at the Vietnam SEA Games can be presented by pencak silat athletes," said Ferry, as reported by Antara.

The hope expressed by Ferry is not without reason, considering that pencak silat is Indonesia's mainstay branch in various multi-event events.

At the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, the Red and White pencak silat team took the top position in the medal tally by bringing home 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze. Even during the 2018 SEA Games Jakarta-Palembang, pencak silat won 14 gold and 1 bronze.

"We hope that the achievements that have been inscribed by pencak silat can be repeated at the SEA Games in Vietnam," added Ferry.

Pencak silat manager Maryatno said the athletes were in the best condition and ready to fight for the name of Indonesia. Speaking of strength maps, Maryatno said the toughest opponents were the hosts, Thailand and Singapore.

"There are 21 athletes, our target is to get gold. They are ready to fight to make the nation and country proud," said Maryatno.
