One Person Dies In Accident On The Sumatran Cross Road, Bengkulu: Homecomers Asked To Be Alert
JAKARTA - A traffic accident occurred on the Bengkulu Province Sumatra Cross Road in Mekar Mulya Village, Penarik District, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu, Thursday which resulted in the death of one person.
Victim Adi Handoko, a resident of Sido Makmur Village, Teramang Jaya District, and the motorcycle he was riding fell. The victim was dragged to the right side of the road and hit the Toyota Kijang Innova B 1763 KVM.
"The victim of this traffic accident died during medical treatment at the Teramang Jaya Health Center," said Mukomuko Police Chief, AKBP Witdiardi, through Head of Traffic AKP Fery Oktaviari Pratama, in his statement in Mukomuko as quoted by Antara, Thursday.
He explained that the accident occurred when a gray metallic Toyota Kijang Innova B 1763 KVM driven by Aidil Fitri with 10 people on board was driving from Bengkulu to West Sumatra.
When crossing the Sumatra Cross Road, Mekar Mulya Village on the way down and turning right, suddenly from the opposite direction, namely from West Sumatra to Bengkulu, came a white Yamaha Vixion motorbike BD 4323 NI driven by Adi Handoko.
The motorbike was traveling at high speed and then fell and was dragged to the right side of the road so that it hit the Toyota Kijang Innova B 1763 KVM which resulted in the death of the white Yamaha Vixion motorbike rider.
The actions taken by the police after receiving the report, he said, were to go to the scene of the incident, record the identities of the victims and witnesses, request information from witnesses, and secure evidence.
He appealed to people who drive two- and four-wheeled vehicles to be careful when crossing the Sumatra Cross Road which connects Bengkulu Province to West Sumatra Province when going home and returning to Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.
"We urge local people to be careful driving vehicles because currently there are many travelers using motorbikes and cars crossing the Sumatra Cross Road in this area," he also said.
In addition, he asked motorized vehicle users in this area to obey traffic rules as an effort to prevent traffic accidents.
