Troubled Electronic Display System, Toyota Recalls Nearly 3000 Units Of Lexus In China
JAKARTA - Toyota will recall for the recall of thousands of imported Lexus cars in the Chinese market due to safety concerns, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday.
According to Toyota Motor Investment (China) archives, the recall involves 6,832 Lexus NX 260, NX 350h and NX 400h+ models imported and manufactured between March 31, 2021 and March 17, 2022.
The recall was related to a problem with the electronic display system, China's market regulatory authority said in a statement.
The multi-function electronic display system is said to not display changes when the driver shifts gears due to a faulty control program. Doing so can distract the driver and pose a safety risk.
Other problems also affect the 2,589 units of Lexus NX 260, NX 350h and NX 400h+ imported from March 31, 2021 to January 28, 2022.
The luxury car experienced problems with the front shock absorbers due to welding errors that could potentially affect the stability of the vehicle. In extreme cases, the problem can pose a hazard to drivers and passengers.
The company said it would update the electronic display system for affected vehicles free of charge. As for the shock absorber problem, Toyota will repair or replace the damaged part, Xinhua said as reported by Antara.
