Holding Back Tears, Amber Heard Testifies To Johnny Depp's Violence: He Slapped Me In The Face

JAKARTA - Aquaman actor Amber Heard was seen holding back tears, Wednesday, May 4, when testifying that her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, had physically abused her. The violence started with a slap when he laughed at one of Depp's tattoos and searched his body for cocaine.

For the first time, Heard was on the witness stand after the defamation case was brought up by Depp. The 36-year-old actress admitted that her relationship with the actor was beautiful until it was tainted by violence.

The first physical abuse from Depp, Heard claims, was when he asked what was written on one of his faded tattoos. Heard said Depp replied, "Wino", to which Heard laughed, thinking it was a joke.

"He slapped me in the face," Heard said. "I don't know what happened. I just stared at him." Heard said Depp slapped him twice more and said, "You think that's funny, you jerk?"

Depp, now 58, previously testified he had never hit Heard and said it was Heard who committed the violence.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star is suing Heard for $50 million, saying his ex-wife tarnished his name when claiming he was a victim of domestic violence. Heard retaliated against $100 million, saying Depp tarnished his name for calling him a liar.

Heard, whose expression alternated between crying and speaking calmly, said he didn't leave Depp because he wanted to believe in his apology and promise not to hit him.

However, Heard said, Depp was violent several times, usually when drinking alcohol or taking drugs. While out with friends over the weekend of May 2013, Heard said Depp was angry and that night tore her dress, tore her underwear and stuck her fingers "into" her body.

"He did a 'cavity search'," he said. "He's looking for the drugs, the cocaine."

Previously, psychologist Dawn Hughes argued that Heard had told her that Depp had stuck a finger in her vagina to look for cocaine.

The case stems from an opinion piece that Heard wrote in the Washington Post in 2018 that never mentioned Depp, but Depp's lawyer said it was clear Heard was referring to the actor. Depp said Heard's accusations of domestic violence cost him everything.

In previous testimony, Depp said their fight over the tattoo "Wino" which was originally the name of his ex-girlfriend, Winona Ryder, "never happened".

Depp said it was Heard who was physically abusive during their relationship, including throwing a vodka bottle that cut off the tip of his middle finger.

Heard denied hurting Depp's finger, while Heard's legal team argued the actress was telling the truth in the opinion piece and that opinion was protected by freedom of expression.
